The Journey

Last night I started reading a new book by Billy Graham called The Journey. It is so very interesting and true. This is one of the few first pages.

Life is a journey. Like every other journey, it has a starting point. You had no choice about it, of course, any more than you had a choice about your parents or the color of your eyes or your race or gender. But the minute you were born you embarked on a journey- the journey of life.

And like every other journey, it has an end. It may come suddenly and unexpectedly, or after years of declining health- but it will come, and like your birth, you'll have no choice about it. You can ignore it or laugh at it, but that won't change its inevitability. A wise poet once said that death comes equally to us all and makes us all equal when it comes.

But like every othe journey, it also has a middle- and that is our real journey: those years between our birth and our death.

You only make this journey once. Why not make the most of it?

That is what Jay did and that is what I want to do too. I am so glad that God put you and me on this earth at the same time so that are paths crossed. I am glad you are on this journey with me. Love you all, Pam

Pam,
Why is it that we know that life has so many of these lessons, but until we are faced with them, is when we start to really appreciate those lessons.
Thank you for pointing out that video from Point of Grace. That song is so beautiful and true. I know I have said this several times, but because of Jay and Yourself, I am a better person. Thank you for teaching me and my family such unspoken lessons. You truely are great role models.
Im so glad that you have pointed out : Life is a journey, we never know what is in store for us, so live life to the fullest and never live one day with a regret! I feel so blessed to be along with you on this journey and I know that someday we will all be together with so many people that have gone before us. Then we will all be on the next journey , starting all over again, together.
I see your strength in so many positive ways and am comforted by this, I know all of you will be okay.
Thank you Pam, for your kindness, knowledge and love.
Stephanie

Pam...it is so good to check on your blog and see that you have left us a little something. The song from the last post was just beautiful and says it all. You must live your life for now- it's all we are getting so make the best of it. You and your husband knew that already, and Dr Graham's book is, I am sure, just reinforcing you belief that you 'did it right'

Thank you for reminding the rest of us!

God Bless you,
Lynne

Hi Pam,
I love the song from your previous post. I had to include it in mine. Of course I had to go see my mom and dad after I listened to it.. We get so busy sometimes it becomes unclear what is it we want?? Where are our priorities?? I also enjoyed the passage from the book.. very true.
Thanks for sharing.JOY!

Mom,
This last month and a half has been so hectic, and I know that is just an excuse, but we haven't even told you enough how much we love you. The focus has been so much on Dad and I don't want to take that away from him because I love him incredibly, but you need to know, too, that we love you the same. Its like you were one and still are. You and Dad are our everything. You are our strength, our funny times, our support and our life. God blessed us with all the riches of the world when He gave us you. You know that song that Taylor Hicks sings, "Do I make you proud?" I want your answer to be yes. You are my lifelong role models and I will forever do my best to make you proud. With all my heart I love you!!!- Stacy

Hi Pam, I want to share something with you that has comforted me.

GONE FROM MY SIGHT

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and the sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!"
"Gone where?"
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bare her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And, just at the moment when someone at my side says; "There, she is gone!", there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout; "Here she comes!"
And that is dying.

A 'Hero' is described as one who is strong, brave, courageous, loved, admired and held in high esteem. That describes you Pam. You are certainly a hero to so many who love and admire you.
I'm praying for you.
Love, Sherry
