My thorns have roses!

I was reading this book and came to a part that I can totally relate to. It had a picture of a long-stemmed red rose with prickly-looking thorns. A caption read, "We can complain because roses have thorns, or be thankful that thorns have roses." That makes so much sense to me. I have a choice to make. Either I can look at the thorns and complain, or I can look at the "roses" and be thankful that I have family and friends that love me. I can complain that God allowed Jay to die or I can thank Him for the time I had with Jay and His assurance that I will be with him again. I choose to see the roses among the thorns.Reds.

I love the sentiment that "thorns have roses"...I'll have to remember that.

The only problem is that we are human and often things are out of our control, as you very well know. This is a good reminder during those times though isn't it!?!

What a great statement! This is so true. I also think that sometimes we have to work hard for the good things in our lives and it makes us appreciate them more.

Steve here, Bev's other half. I found your epiphany so powerful I wanted to comment. I think you are doing all the right things--just as you raised your children as a team, you're also making Jay proud by continuing this successful legacy. Know that he sees your strength, and your will to survive this tragedy, and that your relationship with him remains--unchanged; it's just a different venue.

I applaud the courage of your convictions, and hope our prayers help to keep you strong. Love you Pam-a-lama.

I found this post while performing a google search on my blog. I love this statement. It's all about perspective. :)
